Tribute to the Late John O' Donohue

A New Year Blessing

On the day when

The Weight deadens

On your shoulders

And you stumble,

May the clay dance

To balance you.

School Relationships Management

Dear Principal/Secretary Board of Management

Firstly thank you to all of the Principals and Deputy Principals of Mercy West and Mercy South Central for the warm welcome which you afforded Tom Loughnane and Damien Kennedy on their recent visits to your schools.

Mercy North had a lovely handover ceremony on Thursday the 31st January. It was attended by Principals and Chairpersons of the Boards, Mercy North Trustees and guests. We missed Sr. Josie Berry and wish her well.

The gathering was addressed by Sr. Eleanor Murphy, Provincial Leadership Team followed by a prayer ritual for the handover. Symbolically, we in CEIST were given a Mercy candle for the CEIST office. There was a lovely atmosphere and gratitude was expressed for the Mercy heritage being passed on.

Le Chéile Trust

Le Chéile involves twelve religious congregations who wish to enter into a new collaborative trusteeship for their schools in Ireland.

The main object of Le Chéile is the development of a vision of Catholic education and overseeing its implementation in the Schools, encouraging preservation of key aspects of the evangelical heritage of their founding Congregation and to facilitate the opening of new schools if and where the need arises and resources permit.

The God Slot

Are you interested in introducing daily prayer into the life of your school? Don’t have time to prepare and organise it?

Members of the CES team in Marino have put together daily podcast prayers for every day of Lent.

These prayers have been prepared and presented by Second Level students from Christian Brother schools around the country.

"Shake off all your sins - it is the Lord who speaks - and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit." (Ez:  1831)

The season of Lent is a time of preparation for Easter. It is an opportunity for us to grow in our awareness of God’s presence in our lives. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday is not a holy day of obligation, and yet it is one of the days during the liturgical year on which very large numbers of people participate in the ceremony of the distribution of ashes.

Note for Principals/Deputy Principals

CEIST are in the process of developing areas of interest within the Members Area and would welcome some feedback from you. If there are any areas of interest you would like to see included on the site please email jwoods@ceist.ie.

The intention of the Members Area is to provide a forum for all CEIST members to share information through the medium of documents, images, and conversations.

The potential benefits from this interactive area are many. e.g. CEIST schools could purchase IT software/equipment at a reduced price through buying in bulk, the sharing of best practice, access to useful resources such as sample policy documents, school development planning support documents etc.
