CEIST is the new trustee body for the voluntary secondary schools of the Daughters of Charity, the Presentation Sisters, the Sisters of the Christian Retreat, the Sisters of Mercy and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

We would like to wish all in our schools a very happy and joyful upcoming Easter season.

Sometimes we forget that Easter is the greatest feast of the church's year. If there had been no Resurrection then there would be no other Christian feasts to celebrate! By his resurrection Jesus broke the power of death over us and on Easter Sunday we celebrate the fact that Christ is risen!

"Those who saw the risen Christ remained persuaded that life was worth living and death a triviality - an attitude curiously unlike that of the modern defeatist, who is firmly persuaded that life is a disaster and death (rather inconsistently) a major catastrophe." (Dorothy Sayers)

If we REALLY believe in the Resurrection then our joyful "Allelluia" should be plain for everyone to see in all of our lives!

Each school will be receiving resources encouraging the celebration, not just of Easter Sunday, but of the fifty days of Eastertide. This pack will contain a suggested assembly for the first week after the holidays, weekly prayer based on the Gospel readings for Eastertide, reflections on the Resurrection and a Prayer Service for Pentecost.

The Lord is truly risen. Alleluia!
