CEIST is the new trustee body for the voluntary secondary schools of the Daughters of Charity, the Presentation Sisters, the Sisters of the Christian Retreat, the Sisters of Mercy and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

Presentation Secondary School Ballyphehane All-Island School Choir Winners 2010

Presentation Secondary School Ballyphehane, Co. Cork have won the prestigious All-Island School Choir Competition. The final was televised live from the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on Sunday 14th November.

They beat schools from Derry, Sligo and Dublin and were presented with the trophy from President Mary McAleese.

The All Island School Choir Competition is sponsored by Co-operation Ireland in association with RTE and is in its second year.

Presentation Secondary School Ballyphehane were presented with a Waterford glass trophy and five thousand pounds in sterling for winning the competition!

The CEIST Education Office would like to congratulate Presentation Ballyphehane on their fantastic achievement and to all CEIST schools who participated in the competition.

School Water Conservation Initiative

The Department of Education and Skills have recently setup a School Water Conservation Scheme for primary and post-primary schools nationwide. 1,823 primary and post primary schools across the country will be able to carry out works to reduce their use of water under a €9.75m scheme.

The fund of almost €10 million will finance over 1,823 projects in these schools to reduce their water usage through the installation of water displacement devices, percussion spray taps, thermostatic mixing valves and other water controls.

Catholic Schools Week

The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2011 is "Rooted in Jesus Christ".

Catholic Schools Week commences on Sunday 30th January and runs until Saturday 5th February 2011.

Catholic Schools Week will be launched on the 24th January in Mount Sion Waterford. Lloyd Bracken represents CEIST on the organising committee where our Board of Directors members, Mons. Jim Cassin and Maeve Mahon are leading lights.
