Trustee Support Day for Chairpersons of CEIST School Boards of Management

In appreciation of the work of our Chairpersons and our commitment to you, we are hosting a seminar for our School Boards of Management Chairpersons.

It is an opportunity for Chairpersons to share ideas, discuss pertinent issues and ask questions.

We are delighted to have as our guest speaker, Mr. John Lonergan, who was a past governor of Mountjoy Prison and Portlaoise Prison.

John will draw upon his experiences of leadership and motivation of people, to give of their best and move beyond their limitations.

His insights into working with a vast array of people, should prove invaluable to those in school leadership and governance.

The Seminar is being held on the 11th June in the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co. Offaly from 9.30am - 2pm.

Emmaus School Retreat and Leadership Programmes

The Emmaus Retreat and Conference Centre are at present offering Retreat, Leadership and Mentoring Programmes for Post Primary Students with programmes designed to meet the needs of different year and age groups, with each having its own specific theme.

The Emmaus Centre leadership skills and mentoring skills programme is in its third successful year and is aimed at 5th, 6th and transition year students.

Postgraduate Diploma in Spirituality and Leadership in Education

The Marino Institute of Education are running a Postgraduate Diploma in Spirituality and Leadership in Education with closing date of June 30th for applications.

The course objectives are to provide knowledge, values and skills to prepare effective leaders in Catholic Education.

The Postgraduate is aimed at Qualified Teachers, Pastoral Care Staff, Trustees and Administrators.

Calsanctius College, Oranmore Achievements

Students from Calasanctius College, Oranmore, Co. Galway received a Gaisce Bronze Medal recently at a ceremony in the Ramada Encore Hotel.

Also Dr. Chris Coughlan presented students of the college with the 'Tribes' plaque for achieving 1st place in Galway Civic Trust 'Capturing Galway's Heritage' competition for Transition Year students in the Galway Education Centre.

The school's project was an examination of 5 Galway Churches.

Appointments to Seanad Éireann

Congratulations to Senator Rónán Mullen and Mary Moran on their recent appointments to Seanad Éireann.

Ronan serves in a voluntary capacity on the CEIST Board of Directors and Mary is a music teacher in St. Vincent's Secondary School, Dundalk.

Conference: Mental Health, Practical Theology and Spirituality, June 2011

CEIST Education Conference 2011 Reminder!

Our Fifth Annual Education Conference will take place on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th September in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone and we are at present finalising workshops and speakers.
