CEIST is the new trustee body for the voluntary secondary schools of the Daughters of Charity, the Presentation Sisters, the Sisters of the Christian Retreat, the Sisters of Mercy and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

Seminar on Catholic School Leadership

On January 27th 2012 CEIST will be hosting a national seminar on Catholic school leadership at Renehan Hall, Maynooth College.

The presenter is Dr. Ronald Nuzzi who is Director of the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) School Leadership Programme at The University of Notre Dame.

The title of Dr. Ronald's seminar is "Raising the bar in Catholic school leadership".

It is our hope that a broad representation of our Trust including Trust members, Board Directors, School Principals, Chairpersons of Boards of Management, Board members and others will be able to attend what promises to be a challenging and rewarding experience.

St. Raphael's College, Loughrea raise funds for Galway Hospice

Transition Year students from St. Raphael's College organised a 'Create a Link - Wear Pink' event. The idea being that they link with a local Cancer Support Charity, wear something pink on a specific day and raise money for their linked charity. In this case they raised €610 for Galway Hospice and presented it to Colette Dodd of Galway Hospice.

Junior Cert pupils from the school took first place at the CIMA/BSTAI/NUI Galway Western Region Schools Quiz, which took place recently in the J.E. Cairnes School of Busines and Economics, NUI Galway.

The students on quiz team were Meadbh Broderick, Gearoid Loughnane, Olivia Lennon and Eoin Holohan.

JMB/Trustees School Board of Management Training

CEIST would like to thank all its BOM members who participated in the various regional joint JMB / Trustee BOM training throughout November.

Your engagement in the training is an example of the dedication and commitment you bring to the schools and emphasizes the volunteerism which is vital to the partnership model of management which our schools enjoy.

St Mary's Secondary School, Newport New Website

St Mary's Secondary School, Newport, Co. Tipperary have put in some great work regarding the development of their new website.

The new website has some very nice features such as portal for staff to login to their private site and information is very well presented and easy to find.

Welcome Fora for Staff in CEIST Schools

CEIST plans to hold a welcome fora day for staff in CEIST schools.

The date will be the 21st January 2012 and venue will be the Shearaton Hotel, Athlone.

CEIST Annual Statistical Returns 2011-2012

We are very grateful to all schools who have submitted their annual statistical returns to date. The data collected from these statistics are crucial in informing the Education Office of underlying trends and standards adhered to in our schools.

A revised statistics form was distributed to all CEIST schools for 2011-2012 term. Please e-mail jwoods@ceist.ie if any issues are encountered completing.
