Double Celebrations in Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School, Drimnagh

September 1st, 2015 was a significant day in the history of Our Lady's of Mercy, Mourne Road, Drimnagh as two special events were marked.

Firstly the school officially opened its newly refurbished Computer Room and at the same time marked the fact that for the first time ever there will be a Transition Year programme running in Mourne Road.

After much planning led by Principal Margaret Maher, and input from the likes of Dr. Gerry Jeffers, seventy students started Transition Year.

The students are divided into three classes and the programme will be coordinated by PE and Maths teacher, Ms. Sinead O'Neill.

The students will have an eventful year, which will include two separate weeks of work experience and a week of community work.

One of the first activities the students will partake in is an overnight stay in Wicklow where they will do a hike as part of the Gaisce programme.

CEIST were delighted to be present in the school for the launch on September 1st and wish the students well for the year.

May it be memorable, educational and enjoyable - all at the same time.
