Presentation Thurles Reach First Ever All-Ireland Camogie Final

Presentation Secondary School Thurles made history on Saturday 6th February when they qualified for their first All-Ireland Camogie Final by beating Seamount College in a cold and foggy Kinvara.

Though the scoreline of 3-11 to 1-1 suggests a one-sided affair, the result was put beyond doubt only in the last ten minutes of the game. Points from Cait Devane, Michaela Graham and Andrea Loughnane had the visitors ahead at half-time by 0-8 to 1-0. A goals-coring blitz in the second half sealed matters.

The half-back line of Emily O’Brien, Rosemarie Hanafin and Eithne Moran (Capt.) was impenetrable all through the game while Emma Carey and Clodagh Quirke picked up every breaking ball.

Andrea Loughnane and Sarah Fryday ran riot on the wings, taking scores and feeding passes to the full-forward line.

Cait Devane, although double and treble marked for the majority of the game was immense.

We wish the team and their coaches, Henry Flynn and Margaret O’Dwyer, the very best in the All-Ireland Colleges Final which takes place on March 6th.

Good luck also to the schools Junior camogie team who meet SMI Newcastle West in the Munster Final on Saturday 13th February in the Ragg.
