Emmaus Retreat Centre – March 2010

The month of March will see a wide variety of different programmes and workshops take place at the Emmaus Retreat Centre.

The month will start on the 9th March with a “Style & Confidence Clinic” facilitated by Maria Lynch of Motivated Joy Full Living. In this practical, hands on Style workshop participants will learn about the main STYLE RULES, how to dress for their BODY SHAPE and body scale, what parts of their body to camouflage and what to enhance, to ACCESSORIZE, and how to dress for their personality and lifestyle.

This one is a must for the ladies and excellent value at €58.00 including a light lunch.

On 13th March you are invited to treat yourself to a day of gentle dancing to beautiful music as we move together in a circle creating community. Our lives can feel fragmented in these challenging times.

Dance meditation can help bring about a greater harmony of body, mind, spirit and heart. No previous dance experience required. Come! Enjoy! Be surprised!

This one day Workshop will be facilitated by Barbara Perry chf and the total cost for the day including a light lunch is €50.00.

Barbara is a graduate of the Institute for Dance Meditation/Sacred Dance in Germany. She leads dancing circles in Ireland on a regular basis and has given workshops here, in the UK and USA.

The first weekend programme of the Year will take place on 13th & 14th of March and is entitled “Meditation with Fireflies” – Facilitated by Brother Denis Gleeson. This weekend residential or non residential programme will give us an introduction to the life, work and prayer of Thomas Merton. (1915 - 1968) Merton was a Trappist Monk, a modern mystic, a poet, a prolific spiritual writer and social activist.

He remains a major spiritual influence and an inspiration for our times. The programme will commence on Saturday 13th March at 10.00am and conclude after lunch on Sunday 14th, the programme can be availed of on a residential at €130.00 or non residential basis at €90.00.

A second weekend programme entitled “Being close to the Broken Hearted” – again facilitated by Brother Denis Gleeson.

The programme will look at if God is good, why does he allow so much human suffering and why does evil exist? Human suffering and evil are among the great mysteries of life? We struggle to explain them and in our daily lives, we certainly struggle to come to terms with them.

Why do the innocent suffer? How do people come to do such terrible things?

These are some of the questions that will be explored over this weekend in an attempt to come to some kind of understanding of the evil and suffering which will inevitably touch our own lives.

Once again this programme is available on a residential (€130.00) or non residential (€90.00) basis and will commence again on the Saturday at 10.00am and conclude at 2.30pm on the Sunday.

Maria Lynch from Motivated Joy Full Living will facilitate another one day workshop entitled “Confidence & Assertiveness for WOMEN” and this will take place on 21st March 2010.

Do you tend to avoid conflict and withdraw because you are not sure what to do or say ? Are you facing bullies in your line of work ? If yes, this is the definitely the workshop for you.

In this practical workshop participants will learn how to make an IMPACT when communicating with others, how to manage conflict and how to set HEALTHY BOUNDARIES and protect their energy during challenging situations.

This workshop is aimed at WOMEN OF ALL AGES that want to improve their assertiveness levels and feel confident to stand up for themselves.

The total cost for the workshop including a light lunch is €58.00. At the end of March Emmaus extends an invitation tone and all to spend time apart in an atmosphere of prayer and silence so that we can enter more deeply into the Paschal Mystery.
