Art Exhibition at St. Joseph’s, Castlebar

St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar held an art exhibition recently by past pupils (1994 – 2009) who attended art college and now have a career in the world of art & design.

The exhibition took place on Friday 19th March 2010 in the Reception Rooms of the school, the former home of Lord Lucan.

Past pupil Vicky Burke, Class 1999, (Kylie in RTE’s ‘Fair City’) officially opened the exhibition. A cheese & wine reception was held after the ceremony.

Each past pupil was asked to submit one piece of art work from their portfolios to be exhibited. The exhibits will vary from 3-D fashion costumes, ceramics, fine art and prints, textiles, jewellery, graphics, film/digital media design, interior design, animation, photography etc.

One of the schools past pupils is a designer for ‘BURBURY’ London and another designer for ‘VIVIENNE WESTWOOD’ London.

The exhibition was also open for viewing on Tuesday 23rd March, and Wednesday 24th March to compliment the Musical Celebration being held in the school on these dates.
