Scoil Bhríde in Tuam Perform in the Regional Final of the All Island School Choir Competition

Scoil Bhríde in Tuam qualified for the regional final of the All Island School Choir Competition held in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on Monday 18th October.

The school Principal, Gearóid Leen said "Its a major event in the school and we are the only school in County Galway that has qualified for this stage of the event, only 3 schools in Connacht qualified out of 20 in the whole country.

Music both on the curriculum and extra curricular is very big in our school. Our orchestra celebrates its Centenary this year we are certainly one of the oldest if not the oldest school orchestra in the country and at 150 piece we are most certainly the biggest with almost half the school population in the orchestra and 80% of the school population taking part in either choir, orchestra or Siansa trad music groups.

Of course, as a result, we have full music classes in every year and our junior cert and leaving cert results have been and continue to be exceptional as every class has one class of choir and one class of orchestra in every week".
