John Paul II Awards

The Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin held its first awards ceremony for young people who had participated in the Pope John Paul II Awards Programme, working in parishes, participating in fundraising projects, undertaking work in charity shops, with the elderly and so forth.

The programme was launched in November 2009 in the new GBS Theatre in Carlow and the first group of participants received their certificates in the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow on Thursday 27th January 2011.

Of the one hundred and fourteen participants fifty six are currently attending CEIST schools.










These students were from Presentation de la Salle College, Bagenalstown (pictured above), Presentation College, Carlow, St. Leo’s College, Carlow, Coláiste Iosagáin, Portarlington, and Scoil Chriost Rí, Portlaoise,

Congratulations to each of the students, on their great achievement, and thanks to their teachers and to their parishes, for all their encouragement and support.
