Tell The Future Competition

'Tell the Future' is an exciting new story-writing competition for post-primary school students from 1st-6th year.

The competition is part of a pan-European “Future of Rural Energy in Europe” (FREE) initiative. FREE aims to highlight some of the energy and environmental challenges we face today – and tomorrow. The initiative is supported here in Ireland by Calor and is divided into junior and senior categories, 1st-3rd Year and 4th to 6th Year.

The school of the winning entrant in each category will receive 5 Kindle e-Book Readers and either an interactive white board or 5 laptops, while the class of the winning entrant will receive FREE-themed mouse pads and t-shirts.

The winning student will receive their own laptop, a Kindle e-Book Reader, a specially-engraved trophy and a unique concert/pantomime/show experience in Dublin’s O2, Belfast’s Odyssey Arena or similar venue. Second and third place students will receive a Kindle e-Book Reader each.

Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin, TV personality and teacher, is the face of the story-writing competition, and is a fantastic ambassador for nurturing ideas among our younger population.

This year, through the ‘Tell The Future’ story-writing competition, FREE is focused on encouraging secondary students - the next generation of decision-makers - to share their ideas on how they see the future, particularly in relation to energy and the environment. See competition details below.
