Presentation Secondary School, Waterford Receive Gaisce Award

Gaisce - The President’s Award

On Thursday 1st of December six students from the Presentation Secondary School, Waterford received the Presidents silver Gaisce award at the Bru Boru Centre in Cashel.

This award was presented by Lt. Commandant Roberta O’Brien, Cork woman of the year.

The 6th year students who received this prestigious award were Vikki Caulfield, Tara Fennelly, Tara Mooney, Jenna Norris, Aimee O’Neill and Emma Walsh.










To complete the Gaisce and get this award the girls completed 26 hours in three areas, personal skill, physical activity and community work, and a 54km hike in the Comeragh Mountains over three days.

Some of the activities the girls participated in to attain this award were, irish dancing, guitar, piano, soccer, assisting basketball coaches and youth club leaders, working in the school shop and library and helping at the school homework club.










The girls really enjoyed taking part in these activities and learning new skills and they are very proud of their achievement.

Some of the girls plan to complete the gold award next year, the gold award is presented by the President and we wish them the best of luck with this.
