Welcome Forum for new Teachers

CEIST was delighted to offer a Welcome Forum to teachers new to our schools.

Our office has been in contact with schools to determine the numbers of teachers who have joined the network of CEIST schools since 2009.

We were gratified at the welcome our principals gave to this initiative and greatly encouraged by the number of teachers who took time out from their busy schedule to attend the forum.

Over 50 teachers attended the forum in the Shearaton Hotel, Athlone on Saturday 21st January. After registration and coffee, CEO of CEIST, Anne Kelleher welcomed the new teachers and we had an opening prayer to commence the day.

A presentation was provided outlining the services that the Trust provides for our schools. Tom Loughane, School Support Co-ordinator presented an overview of the stewardship of a school and the interaction between the Trustees and the School Board of Management.

This was followed by Mike Higgins, Director of Finance, who outlined the financial operations of a school and how it affects the life of a Teacher.

John Woods, Information and Communications Systems Manager, brought the audience through the CEIST communiations media, such as the Website, E-newsletter, Members Area, Facebook, Twitter, etc and highlighted how they can benefit our schools.

Following a short break, Director of Faith Development, Ned Prendergast, addressed the attendees on what it means to be a teacher in a catholic school today.

An open forum was held for all of the teachers to pose questions and make comments to CEIST. The morning concluded with a closing speech from CEO, Anne Kelleher who thanked the teachers for making the effort to join us on the day.
