St Joseph's Castleisland Launch Educational Partnership with St Patrick's

St Joseph's Secondary School, Castleisland, Co. Kerry and St. Patrick’s Boys Secondary School wish to announce the launch of its educational partnership.

Both schools' rich heritage and tradition in education are well known in the town of Castleisland and its surrounding parishes and this launch is another chapter on the provision of quality education to second level students.

It is envisaged the provision of subject taster modules in First Year (for example Art and Home Economics in Presentation for Boys and Woodwork and Technical Graphics for Girls in St. Patrick’s) will take place in the Second Term of the 2012/2013 school year.

It is also hoped to implement the provision of a broader range of subject choices and options for Second Years and Fifth Years at the earliest opportunity.

At present a number of boys are studying Chemistry in the Presentation and a girl from Presentation is doing Design Communication Graphics in St. Patrick’s.

Both schools plan to introduce a joint Transition Year Programme in the 2013/2014 school year where community based initiatives and activities will be perused having had discussion with the broader community the schools have received tremendous support and feedback in relation to this initiative.

Both schools will also come together to promote a range of events and extra-curricular activities for example Mass at the beginning of the school year and a production of the Musical “Oliver” at Christmas.

Both Ms. Eileen Kennelly and Mr. Denis O’Donovan Principals’ of both schools are to be commended for their foresight and vision in rising to the challenges currently facing Irish education in the current climate and ensuring that quality education continues in Castleisland as has always been the case.
