Presentation Secondary School, Thurles are European Winners!

Presentation Secondary School, Thurles were among 200 school representatives from across Europe that were recently honoured during a high-profile European Award Ceremony for the U4Energy competition.

The Ceremony took place at the Belgian Comic Strip Museum, a landmark building in the heart of Brussels, in front of an audience of high-level European, government representatives, senior figures from the industry and the media.

U4Energy is an EU-wide competition on energy efficiency. The team Generation Green won the ‘The Good Idea’ competition earlier this year.

Their project was then selected as one of the final four from 33 countries.

The team representatives Mary Claire Hanafin, Jennifer Mullally and their teacher Ms Olivia O’ Brien enjoyed an all-expenses-paid trip to Brussels and were presented with a trophy at the awards ceremony.

While in Brussels, they visited the EU Commission, the Parliamentarium and had a walking tour of the city.

Other members of the team include Shauna O’ Flynn, Caroline O’ Connor, Lydia O’ Toole and Emma Kerwick.
