Primark Legend inspires Presentation College Athenry students

Group Director of Primark, Breege O’ Donoghue met with a group of secondary school students in Presentation College Athenry last week to give them an insight into her career, which has spanned over 50 years.

O’ Donoghue, who was born in Boston, Co. Clare and educated in Gort began her successful career in the hospitality industry with the Great Southern Hotels Group before joining the Primark Group.

Speaking to the students at Presentation College Athenry O Donoghue had some wise words for the 400 students who had gathered for the school assembly, which was organised by Business Teacher, Jason Cotter.

At the age of 72, Breege is driving force behind many of Primark’s departments and has recently spearheaded the company’s successful expansion into new European and USA markets.

Students were advised to focus on achieving their full potential while in the educational system and their hard work would be rewarded.

Breege was presented with some very special locally crafted gifts including a hand painted portrait, a bainin woolen hat and a kiln-dried wooden photo frame.
