Senator Rónán Mullen Comes to Talk with Students

Independent candidate for the European elections in the Midlands-North-West constituency, Senator Rónán Mullen was invited to Árdscoil na Tríonóide, Athy by second and third year CSPE students.

Students asked the Senator to speak about ‘Democracy’ as part of their studies and his work as a member of the Senate.

Senator Rónán Mullen was elected to the upper house in 2007 and won the 2nd highest number of first preferences in his re-election in 2011.

He engaged with students’ questions on a wide range of topics surrounding the work of the Senate and the issues he stands for in the up-coming European elections concerning social justice, human trafficking, support for improved end-of life care in hospitals, maintaining Ireland’s commitment to overseas development aid and social welfare protection for the economically vulnerable.

Senator Mullen also had time to meet and chat with Transition Year students who form part of the Young Social Innovators Community within the school.
