Transition Years in Scoil Chríost Rí, Portlaoise Display Their Artistic Side

Congratulations to Alatinium from Scoil Chríost Rí, Portlaoise who are through to Junk Kouture Grand Final on May 2nd.

The team is made up of three TY students - Eireann Brennan, Anna Healy and Laura Buggy. The students winning entry is a dress made of aluminium tins and ring tops from cans.

The girls worked under the supervision of their teacher Ms Jayne Louise Kelly.

The students received the news last Friday when former Ms. Ireland Roseanna Davidson personally delivered the news to the school.

Their participation in the Junk Koture completion was not the only forum the TY students used to express their artistic side.

They are currently staging the musical Wicked in the local Dunamaise Theatre in Portlaoise.

The show which will go for three nights has proved hugely popular and has been enthusiastically received by audiences.

"No one mourns the wicked" tells the story of how the two witches of Oz came to be.

Under the direction of Ms. Karen Hackett and their co-ordinator Ms. Joan Finlay the Transition Years deserve great credit for staging such a professional and enjoyable production.
