Coláiste Bríde, Clondalkin

Mission Statement

  • To develop the personal, academic and spiritual potential of each student in a caring and disciplined environment.
  • To foster a sense of self-esteem, honesty and respect among all the members of the school community.
  • To provide a welcoming environment for parents where they are partners in the education of their daughters.
  • To create on-going opportunities for staff and parents which will enable them to understand their roll as educators.
  • In drawing up the above aims, we are very much influenced by the desire of Nano Nagle, Foundress of the Presentation Congregation, to cherish equally all pupils in our care. We, like her, recognise and welcome the co-operation and support of the wider community in achieving these aims.

School History

The Presentation Sisters came to Clondalkin in 1843 and after providing Primary education for over 100 years; they eventually decided to establish a Secondary School in 1955. The beginnings were humble with limited structures and facilities but in spite of this the quality of the education was rich and empowering.

In 1955 the Presentation Sisters established a Secondary School. Part of the convent was used as classrooms until 1970 when the Coláiste Bríde Building was open.

The school premises were built on an attractive green-field site but since then the student population has outgrown its walls and facilities so a brand new school was opened in 2008 by the Minister for Health, Mary Harney.
