Presentation Secondary School, Listowel are our profiled school for June, 2010. Presentation Secondary School is a Catholic School for girls situated in Listowel, Co. Kerry, Ireland.

It was founded in 1930 by the Presentation order of sisters. From an original enrolment of 60 girls, it has grown to become one of the largest all-girls secondary schools in County Kerry.

It offers a wide range of subjects, the teaching of which is guided by the pastoral care ethos of the Presentation order's foundress, Nano Nagle. There are 3 different Leaving Certificate Programmes available to students as well as an optional Transition Year programme.

Trocaire Fund Raising

'Willy Wonka was a resounding success'                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

As part of the L.C.V.P. programme a group of 5th Year Students ran a mini-company and successfully raised money for Trocaire Haiti Appeal.money for Trocaire Haiti Appeal.

They sold scrumptious chocolate desserts with an array of mouth watering dips which were enjoyed by both students and staff.

A cheque for €600 was gratefully received by Janet Twomey who is the Munster Regional Development Officer of Trocaire. She visited the school and spoke to the girls about the work being done by Trocaire in Haiti.

First in Ireland in Technical Graphics!

Presentation Secondary School, Listowel Technical Graphics teacher, Mr. Brian Coffey, was thrilled to learn of his student, Abigail Walsh, winning 1st place in the Country for Technical Graphics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr Brian Coffey, (pictured on left) is delighted to see his student, Abigail Walsh, presented with an award for coming first in Ireland in Junior Cert Technical Graphics. Sr. Nuala (Principal of Presentation, Listowel) is on the far right and Abigail's mother is also proud of her daughter.

School Mini-Company raises money for Irish Cancer Society

5th Year L.C.A. girls set up a mini-company called 'Crazy Chicks' to raise money for 'The Irish Cancer Society'.

As part of the L.C.A. programme in Presentation Secondary School, Listowel the students ran a mini-company making Easter Chocolate Nests to sell to students, staff, family and friends.

They worked together to make the product and fulfilled all their orders successfully.

They were delighted to raise €300 for their chosen charity. Their great effort was recognised by Maeve O'Brien (Chairperson of 'Listowel Cancer Support Group') who visited the school to accept the cheque on behalf of the 'Irish Cancer Society' from the girls.

Pres Listowel clean sweep of Schools Photography Competition!

Students from Presentation Secondary Listowel made a clean sweep of the schools Photography competition in the Ballydonoghue Magazine.

Make a Wish Foundation

Despite the recession, these Listowel students carried off some prizes at the Young Entrepreneur Competition recently.
