DESCRIPTION:This year’s Dublin Regional Session of the EYP Ireland will take place from the 18th-20th of October 2019.  Delegations of up to eight TY\, 5th and 6th year students can attend this weekend long conference in Holy Child School Killiney. Over the course of the weekend your students will have the opportunity to improve their communication and public speaking skills\, engage with pressing issues facing Europe and make new friends. DESCRIPTION:The Irish Catholic is hosting a special national conference on the future of denominational education on Thursday\, October 24th. \nFaith-based education has been in the spotlight for some time and some people are even questioning whether or not the State should continue to fund schools that are under a faith-based patronage. \nOur conference – hosted in the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge in Dublin 4 – will focus on the place of faith-based education in our increasingly secular society and Catholic schools in particular. SUMMARY:CEIST All-Ireland Bake-Off 2020
DESCRIPTION:CEIST All-Ireland Bake-Off\nGo Bake!\nIt is that time of year again as we prepare for the sixth All-Ireland CEIST Bake-Off. The Bake-Off has provided CEIST schools the opportunity to build community and give our students a unique opportunity to develop design and creative skills through culinary arts. As the competition has evolved it is great to see new schools getting involved each year as well as welcoming those who have been involved before. Details regarding this year’s competition have now been posted to all schools. \nAgain this year there are two entry categories\, Junior and Senior. \n\nJunior students must design\, bake and decorate a novelty cake. There is no prescribed theme.\nFor senior students\, the Bake-Off is centered on the theme of “Community” where students will design\, bake and decorate a cake to reflect this theme.\n\nMany schools organise their own Bake-Off where students prepare and decorate a cake (see the flyer posted recently re: rules of the competition). Each school will choose their best entries to go forward for the Bake-Off selection. All entries received will be short listed to the best 7 junior entries and the best 7 senior entries that will go forward to the Bake- Off final. \nDates to remember: \n\nEach school is invited to register using the postcard and addressed envelope provided. Please return the registration postcard by Friday 22nd November 2019. DESCRIPTION:Catholic Schools Week 2021 will be celebrated from Sunday 24 January to Sunday 31 January 2021 on the theme ‘Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith and Resilience’. \nAs we live through an unprecedented time of challenge and uncertainty\, our faith and our resilience can be tested. We can ask questions like ‘Will things ever be the same again?’\, ‘When can we get back to normality?’\, ‘Where is God in all of this?’ In response to this\, we reflect upon how Catholic schools are communities of faith and resilience. In Catholic schools\, we are called to support each other and to have faith in the promise of the Good News. Catholic schools are inspired by the belief that God has created each one of us with a capacity to give love and receive love. This love is bound in faith and is more resilient than any virus. While each Catholic school is such a community\, every Catholic school fosters the holistic development of its students\, promotes their wellbeing and offers them cultivation of a deeper\, loving relationship with God. Jesus teaches us to love one another as he has loved us. During Catholic Schools Week we celebrate the gifts and talents we have in following Jesus’ teaching. \nThis year we celebrate how we are called to be communities of faith and resilience\, through our thoughts\, words and actions. In doing so\, we live out the meaning of the beautiful hymn ‘Ubi caritas et amor\, Deus ibi est’ – ‘Where charity and love are\, God is there.’
