Equality Week

The Student Council in Presentation College spent last week highlighting the importance of equality in our everyday lives.

With the help of our equality officer Nothabo Siziba in Third Year many students took part in a video displaying messages of equality and what it means for each one of us in our school community.

They were reminded that equality is about realising that we all have differences but taking into account that our rights should be the same.

TY Work experience with An Garda Siochana

Carlow Community Policing Unit hosted a three day Transition Year Work Experience Programme recently where a number of Presentation College students attended.

It was a very busy three days for the students. The first day consisted of different speakers to talk to the group about the different units in An Garda Siochana. The students got a tour of Carlow Garda station and also got to visit Carlow District Court.

Day two was a trip to the Garda College in Templemore where the students were given a tour of the College and took part in some self defense exercises.

The final day was a trip to Westmanstown where there was an Operational Day organised. The students got to see the Mounted Unit, Water Unit and Dog Unit in action.

The programme concluded with a little quiz. Superintendent Anthony Farrell presented the students with their Certificate of Achievement.

Well done to all the students who took part.
