The school’s first-year hurlers delivered an impressive performance on Monday, 27 April, as they secured victory in the quarter-final of the Lufthansa Technik Turbine Shannon First Year B Hurling Competition against Coláiste na Trócaire, Rathkeale. A strong opening saw the team register early scores, establishing a lead they maintained throughout the contest. The match also provided an opportunity for all 28 panel members to take to the field, highlighting the squad’s depth and the significant progress made over the course of the year. Attention now turns to the semi-final, where they will face Scoil Mhuire agus Íde, Newcastle West. The fixture is scheduled for Monday, 11 May, at Lacken Park, Newport, with a 12:30pm throw-in.
St. Mary’s U-15 hurlers were edged out by Hazelwood Dromcolliher in yesterday’s Limerick Colleges quarter-final, losing on a scoreline of 3-16 to 3-12 after a keenly contested and entertaining encounter. Despite the narrow defeat, the team displayed admirable determination and resilience throughout, refusing to yield until the final whistle. With a significant number of the panel still eligible for the grade next year, the future looks promising for this dedicated group, who have shown consistent commitment and strong development over the course of the season.
