West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon 2026

Congratulations to our 1st year student, Roxane Sands, on an exceptional sporting achievement.

At just 14 years of age, Roxane has made history as the youngest ever winner of the West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon, crossing the finish line in an outstanding time of 37:13.

This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to Roxane’s talent, dedication, and hard work. It is a proud moment for the entire St. Joseph’s school community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Feis Ceoil Youth Choir

We are delighted to celebrate a fantastic achievement from our Gospel Choir!

The choir won first place at the Feis Ceoil Youth Choir Competition and were also awarded Folens Publishers’ School Choir of the Year 2026,  receiving a €3000 award and trophy in the RDS Dublin! Following this win, the choir has been invited to perform in the National Concert Hall in June as part of the Feis Ceoil Gala Concert.

Well done to our superb soloist, Cera Maloney, and sincere thanks to our accompanist Aleksandr Nisse.

We are absolutely delighted for our students and immensely proud of the commitment and hard work they have shown in preparation for this event!

West Regional Champions

 

St. Joseph’s Secondary School enjoyed a fantastic day in Colaiste na Coiribe as both their first and second year basketball teams were crowned West Regional champions after two impressive victories. Displaying skill, determination, and great teamwork throughout, both sides rose to the occasion and delivered standout performances.

It marks a memorable achievement for the school, with two titles secured in style on the same day. Both teams are now through to the All-Ireland Quarter Final playoff with will be held on April 24th for the 2nd year team and April 28th for the 1st year team. Best of luck, girls!

 

 

 

Fallen into Bloom

Well done to our TY Junk Kouture team ‘Fallen into Bloom’ – Peterina, Mayar and Lauren – who attended the Junk Kouture Regional Finals in the Helix today along with the other TY students who created outfits

A special mention to Peterina, who did a fantastic job modelling their dress on the runway.

Trailblazer Phoenix of the Year Award

Congratulations to Peterina Grealis, TY(B), who was honoured with the TrailblazeHer Phoenix of the Year Award at TU Dublin Grangegorman.

The TrailblazeHer initiative celebrates young women who demonstrate leadership, determination and the courage to pursue their ambitions. Peterina was recognised for her outstanding commitment, resilience and determination to excel during a very difficult time in her life.

Receiving the Phoenix of the Year Award is a fantastic achievement and reflects Peterina’s hard work, confidence and willingness to step forward and make a difference in school, at home and in the community.

We are incredibly proud of Peterina, and this award is a well-deserved recognition of all that Peterina represents.

She is a wonderful ambassador for our school and a great inspiration to other students.

Historic Victory for Our First Year Girls in Belfast

A huge congratulations to our incredible First Year Girls’ Junior Team, who have been crowned Secondary Schools National Champions!!

This is a truly historic achievement — the first Junior National title for the school since 1984!!!

 

What an outstanding group of young athletes, led home by the amazing Roxanne Sands. Their dedication, determination, and teamwork were evident every step of the way. They represented the school with pride and showed what can be achieved through hard work and commitment. The future of sport in our school is incredibly bright with such talented athletes coming through.

Massive congratulations to Roxanne Sands, who secured an individual National bronze medal!!!!

Well done to all the girls and to everyone who supported them. A proud day for our school community!
