Calasanctius College Oranmore News – Dec 2020

November We Remember

During November every religion class participated in a November We Remember prayer service in our Oratory. Students placed coloured leaves with the name of a loved they wanted to remember for Our Tree of Remembrance in our Sacred Space.

Presentation Day

As a school community with had a Presentation Day liturgy on the Intercom to celebrate the feast day of Nano Nagle and the presentation sisters. Members of our school community placed a wreath in the nuns graveyard for Presentation Day.

Fundraiser for Shauna Bocquet

We raised €1800 with a non uniform day for Shauna Bocquet, a 5th year student in Calasanctius College. Shauna was born with Spina Bifida. She took up wheelchair racing when she was 8 years old and she is a member of Craughwell Athletic Club in Galway. She is fundraising to build a tartan track to train on for competitions. Last year, Shauna became U17 Junior World Champion at the IPC Junior Worlds in Nottwil, Switzerland. She is working towards qualifying for the U20 Junior World championships in 2021 and the Senior European Championships in 2022. Her long term goal is to qualify for the Paralympic games to be held in Paris in 2024 and a track would go a long way in helping her make this dream come true.
