The Department of Education and Skills has announced that two brand new second level schools will open in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath and Gorey, Co. Wexford in 2021. Both schools will serve students from Dunshaughlin / Gorey and the and surrounding areas respectively. CEIST is applying for Patronage of these new schools.
Vote for CEIST as School Patron
All parents/guardians with children ranging from 2nd class to 6th class are being asked to cast a vote for a desired patron of the new school in their area. Voting ends on Monday 16th November at 9am. If you would like to cast a vote for CEIST to become patrons of this new school please click the link below. Note you will need your Eircode to complete the form.
Don’t worry if you have already voted for another patron you are free to change your mind. The Department of Education and Skills website states:
“If more than one survey is filled in for the same child, the last completed survey will be counted.”

CEIST (Catholic Education – an Irish Schools Trust) is applying for patronage of this new school. CEIST is a Catholic patron of 107 schools (46 co-educational) all around Ireland. This vast experience in patronage will serve well in a new school for Dunshaughlin. Nearby CEIST schools in the general area include Eureka Secondary School Kells, Scoil Mhuire Trim, St. Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School Navan, Scoil Dara Kilcock and St. Joseph’s College Lucan. A CEIST Catholic co-educational secondary school would provide a real choice for parents in the Dunshaughlin area. There are currently no Catholic voluntary secondary schools in all of the Dunshaughlin area.
CEIST will be beginning an information campaign to ensure that all parents and guardians are fully informed about this choice that is open to them when they are asked by the Department of Education and Skills to make expressions of interest in who should be Patron of the new school.
A CEIST school is available to everyone, and endeavours to offer the widest possible educational experience to all the children of an area. CEIST Schools, of course, as in most post-primary schools in Ireland, have Boards of Management including parents, teachers and patron nominees. They are inclusive schools, and cater for students of all faiths and none.

RTE program “With You in Spirt”
Clare Ryan CEIST CEO made a moving address on the RTE program “With You in Spirt” which was broadcast on Wednesday 10-June after the national Mass service on RTE. In the piece Clare introduced herself as the CEO of CEIST and spoke a little about CEIST’s work from its founding back in 2007 by five congregations the Daughters of Charity, the Presentation Sisters, the Sisters of the Christian Retreat, the Sisters of Mercy, and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart to its present day form of the Patron body for 108 Post-Primary Schools in Ireland. Where each of our schools are based on the founding visions of these congregations and continue to live out this charism in process and practice. She also spoke of the five core values of CEIST which are engrained in each of our schools and stressed the importance of this today stating “Essentially CEIST post primary schools through the whole process of teaching and learning promote the Gospel fulness of life and it is this emphasis on the fullness of life which has come to the fore during this pandemic.”

World Meeting of Families
On Saturday August 24th 1,500 students and volunteer teacher, parents and school staff travelled from all over the country to attend training in Dublin for the Papal Mass. Three Dublin based CEIST schools, (St. Joseph’s Lucan, Colaiste Bride Clondalkin, Our Lady of Mercy College Beaumont), kindly opened their doors to welcome all travelling CEIST schools. These host schools provided accommodation and food for the volunteers overnight Saturday and Sunday breakfast. The students and volunteers slept on classroom floors and gym floors to be able to be present for the papal Mass in the Phoenix Park. They were on duty from 6.00am on the Sunday morning. This was an incredible show of faith on behalf of so many young people across 107 CEIST schools.
