Sustainable Karaoke Regional Winners in Cork

Congratulations to Sustainable Karaoke a team of four TY students who won the ‘One Good Idea’ Regional Final in Cork on Monday the 24th of February. The team members, Cait Rice, Elizabeth O’Connor, Ciara Landers and Ciara Rath have been busy raising awareness and promoting sustainable transport around Tralee. Last month the girls participated in a live radio interview on Radio Kerry and they were also featured in an article in Kerry’s Eye newspaper.  Around the school they have been speaking to CSPE classes, they had a poster competition and even held a stop and skate event.

At the regional event their one-minute film was shown on the cinema screen and the team gave a presentation to the other teams followed by a question and answer session with the judges. The crowd were entertained by Garry McCarthy from GMC beats during judge’s deliberations.

In the coming weeks the girls will continue their mission to encourage carpooling, walking and cycling as alternatives to car travel. The team are committed to leading the way and encouraging change for the benefit of our environment.
