Sacred Heart Girls make presentation on Gender Based Violence in the AV room of Leinster House

On December 6th, the All Ireland winning Concern Debating team, from Sacred Heart Secondary school, Clonakilty, Co Cork, consisting of Laura Walsh, Maebh McCarthy, Natasha Sutton and Caoimhe Ni Suilleabhain, travelled to Leinster House to make a presentation on Gender Based Violence and their trip to Malawi, as a result of winning the Concern debates. Accompanied by Ms. Brosnan and Ms. Harte, the girls had an amazing day, meeting loads of familiar faces, one of the highlights of the day was being the first guests in Tánaiste Simon Coveney’s new office! The girls’ presentation at 3:00 pm in the AV Room of Leinster House was well received by all who attended and it certainly opened peoples mind on the subject of Gender Based Violence on a global level. The girls were delighted that our local Minister Jim Daly took time to meet with them and Deputy Liam Collins and Deputy Margaret Murphy O’Mahony attended their presentation. The girls are are extremely grateful to Senator Gerard Craughwell and Senator Tim Lombard who facilitated the visit.
