Transition Year

A big well done to those TY students who completed a workshop on Làmh which is a manual signing system, great fun had by all.

3rd years spent an afternoon with representatives from the Mill Theatre taking part in a Romeo and Juliet workshop.

 

Awards

On Thursday December 5th Scoil Dara held its awards day where past and present students were formally recognised for their wonderful academic achievements. We were delighted to hear past student Oisín Fagan speak to senior students …. so easy to see why the Irish Times refers to him as “the best new writer in Ireland”.  Well done to all recipients and thanks to Ms Butler for organising the events.

2C, Ms. Quinn, Ms. E. Mc Auliffe, and Ms. R Murphy had a splendid evening in Dundrum.

 

Ladies Senior Team

Our talented senior girls team who put in an outstanding 2nd half performance yesterday in a bid for 3 out of 3. It just wasn’t to be on the day but you all did your school very proud.

 

Debating

Scoil Dara is super proud of This amazing crew. Huge congratulations to Ms Butler & the wonderful team on their win tonight against Ardscoil Rathangan on the motion ‘The EU needs an Army’. Great speeches all round .. what a journey we have had with this team.

 

Shoe Box Appeal

Alex O’ Gorman, Katie Mahon and 1F who collected the most shoe boxes in Scoil Dara for Team Hope, 99 in total!! Rumour has a pizza party awaits you all, well done to all.

 

Marshmallow Challenge

5th year students competing in the annual ‘Marshmallow Challenge’ & the ladies who won it in style.

 

Student Council

Well done to the Student Council &  Ms Doyle…raising money for the Father Peter McVerry Trust with a Christmas Jumper Fundraiser and they organised and collected food items for the St. Vincent de Paul, well done to everyone who donated, such an amazing response to both worthy causes.

 

An Advent Calendar with a Difference

What Christmas Spirit there is in Ms. Quinn’s First year class!! ….they made these lovely Advent Calendars that invite us to acts of kindness each day…. just beautiful.

Rachel Smyth Graduates from DCU

The Scoil Dara community would like to pass on our congratulation to past student Rachael Smyth who graduated with a BSc in Science Ed from DCU. She received ASTI award for Excellence in Teaching based on receiving the highest grade awarded for her final school placement. 

 

Home Economists

Ms O Loughins class have been so busy , here we have 5th years whipping up a storm with these Amazing Pavlovas and 3rd Years with Iced Red Velvet Cupcakes boxed ready for Santa.

 

Choir ….on tour

What a busy time the Choir had last term in addition to keeping the whole school community rocking, they were busy singing in the annual Christmas Carl Service in Kilcock,Tallaght Hospital, entertaining the staff at Musgrave’s Ireland , Travelling to Grafton Street and Heuston  and all to raise money for Focus Ireland , Ms O Conoor , Ms Kennedy and all involved were definitely on Santas good list having raised over 1300 euro , well done to all.

PE

Well done to all our first years who participated in our annual Gymnastics Competition. Fantastic talent, effort and creativity shown by all the groups and congratulations to our 3rd, 2nd and 1st place winners of the first year Gymnastics Competition!

Brilliant performances all round. Thanks to our Head Boy, Head Girl and Meitheal Leaders for judging the competition.

 

Students of the Month

December students of the month were more than well deserving and congratulations to Ben Raher, Raphael Ketelers, Charlie Mulligan , Daragh Hoolan , Alec Lea and Claire Farrell.

 

Hot Chocolate Club

In recognition of their positive attitude we say well done to our recipients of hot chocolate award!, kind , industrious, friendly , engaged , motivated….. need we say more

 

Words of the week

‘discombobulate’ and ‘eclectic’

…..generated a lot of discussion in senior classes. Thank you to Jasmin & Vivienne 4d created this eye catching display on the main corridor

and to Nambitha & Vy both from 4d did a fabulous job of catching people’s attention with their fantastic display. We love the student’s enthusiasm and we am very grateful for their artistic skills.

 

LCA 1 and 2

The LCA class spend a brilliant day , seeing what’s possible in the future visiting  Crumlin and Dunboyne college open day.

 

TYs

Congrats to all TY enterprise students on a fantastic Christmas fair and to the Community Care classes who organised the raffle in aid of Irish Cancer Society. Thanks to all students and staff who supported both.

 

Well done to the Library Prefects

Well done to library prefects. They hosted the junior book club each week and today they presented the group of readers with their Scoil Dara Certificates for attendance & great reading. #studentleadership in action. Thank you to @Ciahog for the helpful tips!
