St. Mary’s High School, Midleton, Co. Cork are bringing the sales to you! As part of the Transition Year IT module, the students in St. Mary’s High School have been busy building a website. www.shoplocalmidleton.com

Shop Local Midleton is a project which aims to provide a platform to support and move local businesses online for the run up to Christmas. For many reopening or building an online presence will not be a viable option. The website provides a free online marketplace.  Local businesses who wish to get involved simply visit the website and sign up.

The students under the guidance of their teacher, Ashling Horgan developed the website in class. Products are uploaded on a regular basis by the students and the site is maintained by Ms. Horgan and the team. The team recruited Enterprise teacher, Annette Carey to help create a Marketing Group and great effort has been made to raise awareness about this initiative. The feedback from the local community is one of great appreciation for facilitating local businesses to continue trading, in line with current guidelines.

Now more than ever we must work together and let, not just our light shine, but that of our wider community.
