St Mary’s Newport News

World Teacher’s Day

On Thursday last, the teachers in St Mary’s Newport had a lovely surprise from their students.

Cards and chocolate were left in the staff room for all teachers and two students, Flora Koves and Caoimhe Malone baked cakes for the whole staff.

What a lovely kind gesture from all our students.

Open nights

St Mary’s would like to extend a thank you to our students,

staff and parents council for their help and support in preparing for two very successful open evenings.

Also, thank you to the 5th and 6th class students, their parents/guardians who visited our school.

We were delighted to receive such positive feedback.

RSA

The RSA road safety shuttle landed in Newport last Friday, 6th October.

The sixth year students experienced the shuttle bus where they get to simulate driving a motorbike, road safety talk, brake reaction timers, child safety belt fitting, car care.

155 people died on our roads last year. This was a really worthwhile workshop for our students.

Huge thank you to Alexandra and the RSA team and Newport Community Centre for allowing us to use their Carpark.

Also Congratulations to our Under Sixteens Basketball team who have started their year with a win against ST Anne’s Killaloe.
